Thank you David from Southwest Airlines

I have flown on many airlines across the country and across the world.  Most people nowadays have.  Therefore we generally tune out the safety speech they give you identifying the exit rows and how the oxygen masks will fall from the storage overhead, blah, blah, blah.  I am usually one of these tuner-outers but I could not ignore David's safety speech even at 7:00 a.m.

Here are some excerpts.

"Good morning everyone, I am going to review the safety features of our 737.  While I do that, it would be awesome for you to keep your chatter to a roar and pretend like you are listening... Review the safety card in the seat back pocket in front of you.  It's full of pretty, colorful pictures with a terrible story line.  None of those situations ends well...  Should there be a change in cabin pressure (which none of us expects or we wouldn't have shown up to work today), oxygen masks will fall from the overhead compartment.  Keep in mind that even if your mask doesn't inflate, your neighbor's will.  If you have small children, be sure to secure your mask before assisting any children.  If you have more than one child, start with the one that has the most potential and work your way down from there...  We have exits at the front, rear, and center of the plane, just follow the fancy disco lighting to guide you... Federal law prohibits the tampering with or disabling the smoke detectors, security cameras, or two-way mirrors in the lavatories...  As we are getting ready to take off, please be sure that your items are shoved and kicked completely under the seat in front of you and your seat is completely upright in the most uncomfortable position possible...  To improve the appearance of the flight crew we are going to dim the lights at this time.  Enjoy the flight..."

When we arrived:
"Please wait until we come to a screeching halt at the gate and the captain says it's okay to take of those seat belts.  If you leave something on the plane, be sure to check for those items later on eBay..."

There was a lot more but this is the stuff I remembered.  When I got off the plane I told him that he made my day and that he was my favorite flight attendant.  He winked at me and said, "Oh no, you're my favorite!"

Thank you David.

Waiting...

I am grateful to a dear friend who shared this video about waiting for the right man.  I think it is a very timely message for most of my girlfriends.  But I think any man could learn some things from the video too.  Enjoy.  Share your thoughts :)

Father's Day

I took my dad (Tatay) to Mimi's Cafe for Father's Day last Sunday.  I'd like to point out proudly that without prompt he picked out the shirt that I made for him for Christmas :)  All of us kids signed the bottom with the name that we call him.

Yup, I did it... I went to Zumba with Eunice :)  There were about 40 other ladies in the class ranging from 7 to 70!  About a third of them had those belly dancer "skirt" things.  You know the ones with the jingly coin things all over it?  It cracked me up...  Honestly, I am going to applaud Eunice and I!  We kept up very well for our first day.  During this hour of fun, I really didn't think I exerted myself very much.  It seemed pretty easy.  I was actually thinking that I was in pretty good shape... Boy, I thought wrong...I didn't realize I was tired until I got home...  My knee is doing its usual stupidness where it acts like it's the joint of an old woman.  It'll get better and so will I   :)  Wish the rest of my girls were here and could take it with me :/   But if you are in the area, classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Can't wait for next week!

Doctors At War

Doctors at War provides medical treatment to combat the abuses suffered by human trafficking victims.

We are fighting human trafficking in many ways including connecting doctors and other healthcare professionals with those who are involved in the front lines of this fight, and giving them the opportunity to make a difference. We are working with safe houses worldwide involved in the rescue and restoration of survivors.
Their ultimate goal is in reintegrating these individuals back into society as emotionally whole and healed individuals, carrying the tools to become self sufficient and to not fall prey to this type of exploitation again. We will provide primary and specialty medical care to those who have been rescued from bondage, and offer technical, emotional and financial support for both those doing the restoration work and those who have been rescued out of unthinkable circumstances.
